Born in Berlin, Hanna Bienert began her musical training at the age of five on the violin. In her youth, she initially expanded her musical spectrum as a guitarist and discovered her passion for jazz and improvised music. She experienced the defining initial spark for jazz violin when she first heard a recording by Stéphane Grappelli – a moment that had a lasting impact on her artistic path.

After initial band projects in Berlin, she lived for seven formative years in Paris, where she studied with the renowned jazz violinist Didier Lockwood. There, she intensively studied the French tradition of jazz violin and developed her own independent musical language.

Her playing is characterized by great sensitivity, an instinctive musicality, and a clear, warm, very personal tone. She understands improvisation not as virtuosity for its own sake, but as a narrative process – as a musical voice with character and attitude.

She has performed on stages throughout Europe and overseas, including at international festivals such as the Edinburgh Jazz Festival, the Brecon Jazz Festival, and the Breda Jazz Festival. In the course of her career, she has made music with internationally recognized artists and participated in projects with musicians of worldwide reputation. In addition to her concert activities, she works as a composer and arranger for theater productions as well as for pop and film music.
